Daily Update – Gratitude

1. Thanks for the help yesterday morning from some of the boys – Braden, Rocco, Ben, Gigi, Dillard. Pumped up the balls, went through uniforms. We are getting ready!

2. Thank you to parents and players who are working to get physicals in. I know it can be a headache but do it! Jose is done, Gigi, Jayden, Liam, and Lucas are getting close or waiting for approval

3. For every student athlete that is getting on the boat with us this year.

As you get your minds ready for the season, keep this in mind. Being on a team is not about what you get out of it, it is about GIVING to the school and community. Giving is always more fundamentally motivating then getting. This is what gets people up in the morning excited to do the work. Let’s give this community our very best!

REMINDER: ZOOM MEETING WILL BE AT 9:00 PM instead of 8:30 PM. I have soccer rules meeting tonight up in Nazareth and it may run overlong so 9:00 allows for that. It will be 15 minutes long.

Daily Update 8/5

Happy Tuesday WABS! Less than 1 week away. Some IMPORTANT announcements:

1. I have been busy calling everyone who has come out to play with us in the spring and summer hoping and trying to get their physicals in and done. Being a part of a high school team is good for them and us. If you have any of these guys numbers, please text them and help them get their physicals done or put them in touch with me:

Angel, Tyam, Lucas A., Eduardo, Mike L

Players who should be getting physicals in and done this week:

Jose, Nate, Jayden, Gigi

2. All 11 spots on the field are open. Go into the season looking to win your place on the field. With a smile and confident.

3. I need two more helpers tomorrow at the high school. 9:30 – 11:00 roughly. Shoot me an email

4. Our first week of practice will be intense and challenging but we will spice it up with some fun with a theme each day.

Monday – Bandana Day – wear your favorite bandana Karate kid style

Tuesday – Muscle Beach Day – wear your favorite sleeveless shirt

Wednesday – Rock and Roll Day – each player adds a song to my playlist to be blasted across practice

Thursday – Old Timers Day – practice in the oldest, most ancient gear you can find (and fits)

Friday – Blue and gold and War Paint Day – eye black day. Do your best to show our WARRIOR spirit. I will get some eye black and have it available.

Please do not go out and buy anything for these days. I want this to be fun. Not a stress. But definitely participate!!! Its mandatory fun!

Weekly Schedule – the calm before the storm

The WABS soccer war party will hit the fields for official practice 8/11. ONLY players with approved PIAA physicals may participate. We need EVERYONE ready for day 1.

Monday: Workout with Coach Alec (9:00 AM)

Tuesday: NO PRACTICE – get physicals done. Rest up. Get ready.

Wednesday: PHYSICALS – I will be at the school in the morning to help anyone with physicals. I will help students log in and upload documents or to schedule physicals.

I would like 4 volunteers to help with getting equipment ready Wednesday. Please email me if you can make it.

Thursday: Join me for a zoom at 8:30 PM. Players only please

Friday: Rest and Check the Website.

GO WARRIORS!!!

A few quick clarifications from meeting!

Parent/Student Transport from game:

Coach Browne mentioned that he piloted a new procedure with the Principal that allows the parent to sign a player out to go home with them. That sounds great and we will use this as well.

Fisk retired!

Oh my, life never slows down. Christmas City is the vendor now and as soon as I have a definitive date, I will announce here.

Nice to see everyone, thanks for coming, and go Warriors!!!

Thanks Coach Browne!

Tuesday Training Recap

We had some more fun on our makeshift field. Here are some things we liked and some coach tips!

What we liked:

1. Some dangerous passes across the goal mouth. These will create lots of trouble for our adversaries. Justin was routinely in the right place crashing the goal

2. Quick outlet from Levi led to a goal. Soccer is a game of context. Sometimes we play out the back, sometimes we don’t. Every situation demands a different judgement.

3. Attendance – we had 30 guys there. We absolutely love that. One of our core principles is that everyone matters and we will involve everyone. Be ready!

Coach Tips to Work On:

1. Being a team requires going outside your comfort box and befriending everyone. STRONGER TOGETHER. We cannot be groups of 3’s and 4’s. We need to be ONE group of 40. If you have a grudge, let it go. Be positive and rule 1 is never talk bad about a teammate or the program 🙂 You guys are all wonderful. Be wonderful to each other.

2. Less individual = more team. Be quick to involve your teammates. The ball moves a lot faster than any person – even Justin or Gigi! Send that ball to feet or space and let’s move it quicker than our opponent can adjust. Less dribble, more pass.

Check out some pics!

PIAA Roster up to 20! One more day to get them in for bonus VL points!

Here is the updated list.

Players who have come out and showed interest we want to see get physicals:

Nate, Adam, Eduardo, Brayan, Mike L, Jayden, Yahriel, Braden, Harnit, Levi Walsh, Kyle Walsh, Lucas Ag, Tyam, Gigi, Andrew Bleice, Justin H, Jose, Jeremiah, Noah Q, and Angel

This would get us to 39 which I love. I know some of these are in the works and/or people have been away. Please reach out to these guys on the list. I will be doing the same. I want as many as want to have the experience committing to and experiencing the fun and memories of a high school sports team. If we get to 35, each member of team gets a prize. Let’s go!!!!!
