WABS Weekly Update and Activities

As we dive into our first FULL week of summer action, I want to remind of you the activities this week.

Monday (6/9) = Training with Coach Alec at 9:00 AM at HS Fieldhouse

Tuesday (6/10) = WABSC Training at 8:00 AM at WAIS

Wednesday (6/11) = Training with Coach Alec at 9:00 AM at HS Fieldhouse

Thursday (6/12) = WABSC Training at 8:00 AM at WAIS

We encourage you to attend as many of these as your work and family obligations allow! If you cannot make the trainings, I have posted individual training workouts both with and without the ball on the calendar. These are good for anyone, even for those who do attend the trainings. That said, it is always nice to train together. Hard work = success. There is no other formula.

Beautiful Day for Training!

I went up to the field to run some shuttles (down to 48.5 seconds boys) and some half-field sprints (7.9 seconds avg. – not my best day) but so good to get the legs working. High school guys from my local school were out training. Did you train today? I have heard some guys training at home yesterday or with other clubs – if not – just get out and push yourself. Eat right, get some sleep, we are going to need the best version of you in August so be your best everyday! Best son, best friend, best worker, best trainer – what else could we ask of you! Happy Friday all!

Everyone Matters!

Our first WABSC summer training session is in the books. We started with some rondos, did some stretching, ran a timed shuttle run (Our best were 39 seconds, Stewart at 51 seconds) and then we were able to play full field. To wrap we ask the players to highlight some stars and Braden, Andrew, Justin, and Gigi all received shoutouts. It was nice to see the players in their natural habitat in the full field game. This is a wonderful group of players. As a final thought, everyone on that field is important. I know your name, you make us better by being there and I miss you and notice when you are not there. Work to get stronger, train, run, attend the lifting and join us Tuesday of next week. Families stick together and that is what we are. Enjoy the weekend all!! Strength and honor WARRIORS.

Reminder: Training Tomorrow at WAIS (8:00 AM)

Please subscribe to website for all updates! All announcements will go straight to your email. Every player who does it will earn 5 bonus varsity letter points! All parents of players who subscribe earn their child 2 varsity letter points!

When at the website, please check out all posts. I posted an interesting one today on a contest between D3 and D1 teams.

See you tomorrow! Early bird gets the worm! Go Warriors!

D3 vs D1?

Although broadly speaking most would agree that D1 teams are more competitive than D3 teams BUT…is the difference as great as what people think? Below are highlights between University of Mary Washington (D3 ranked 9 in nation) vs University of Virginia (D1 Ranked 17 in nation). UVA won, but the score/outcome could definitely have been very different.

If you are watching this, you probably check this website often. That’s good captain potential. Let me know you were here watching via an email!

WABS Weekly Schedule – Summer has arrived!

Mon (Tonight) – Graduation! Let’s hear it for the blue and gold!

Wed – Lifting with Coach Alec at 9:00 AM (HS Fieldhouse)

Thurs – Summer Training at 8:00 AM (WAIS Fields)

If Transportation is tough, reach out to your teammates and teammates reach out to each other. Let’s get at least 20 there for our first summer training and grow from there. A great fall season starts long before the fall. Yes we need to get fit but we all need to fit with each other and there is no substitute for time in doing that! See you on Thursday!

WABS Spring Training Finishes Strong in the Grasslands

It was a fun day in the sun on the tall grass of the Wilson Area Intermediate school Savanna. We didn’t see any lions but I think there could be some hiding in the grass there. I want to highlight 5 players who came to every single spring training session (9 sessions). Great job guys and great commitment to personal growth and getting to know new players and coach!

Rock on! Summer Sessions Start Next Week. Teams are not just a conglomeration of players, they are a machine where the parts are interconnected and synchronized. Playing together is an essential part of forging strong team bonds so join us as often as you can! Summer sessions are more intense and we will work on different things in addition to scrimmaging. See you there! Go Warriors!
