D3 vs D1?

Although broadly speaking most would agree that D1 teams are more competitive than D3 teams BUT…is the difference as great as what people think? Below are highlights between University of Mary Washington (D3 ranked 9 in nation) vs University of Virginia (D1 Ranked 17 in nation). UVA won, but the score/outcome could definitely have been very different.

If you are watching this, you probably check this website often. That’s good captain potential. Let me know you were here watching via an email!

WABS Weekly Schedule – Summer has arrived!

Mon (Tonight) – Graduation! Let’s hear it for the blue and gold!

Wed – Lifting with Coach Alec at 9:00 AM (HS Fieldhouse)

Thurs – Summer Training at 8:00 AM (WAIS Fields)

If Transportation is tough, reach out to your teammates and teammates reach out to each other. Let’s get at least 20 there for our first summer training and grow from there. A great fall season starts long before the fall. Yes we need to get fit but we all need to fit with each other and there is no substitute for time in doing that! See you on Thursday!

WABS Spring Training Finishes Strong in the Grasslands

It was a fun day in the sun on the tall grass of the Wilson Area Intermediate school Savanna. We didn’t see any lions but I think there could be some hiding in the grass there. I want to highlight 5 players who came to every single spring training session (9 sessions). Great job guys and great commitment to personal growth and getting to know new players and coach!

Rock on! Summer Sessions Start Next Week. Teams are not just a conglomeration of players, they are a machine where the parts are interconnected and synchronized. Playing together is an essential part of forging strong team bonds so join us as often as you can! Summer sessions are more intense and we will work on different things in addition to scrimmaging. See you there! Go Warriors!

WABS Weekly Schedule

Hope all had blessed Memorial Day remembering those who paid it all.

Here are events for this week:

Tuesday 5/27 (Today) – Train individually or with Coach Alec. Recommended exercises with or without ball are described in the event on the calendar.

Wednesday 5/28 – Train individually. Recommended exercises with our without ball are described in the event on the calendar.

Thursday 5/29 – Workout at WAIS 2:45-3:45 PM

If you are not playing highly competitive soccer, make sure you are working out hard on the exercises provided. We don’t want you in good shape, we need you in your BEST shape. There is also some ball exercises as well which won’t hurt ANYONE to do 🙂 A spreadsheet will be posted soon where players can log their activities. It helps us all to be accountable to each other.

Bring indoor shoes tomorrow and we need volunteers for recruiting!

  1. Bring indoor shoes tomorrow. I am working right now to get the gym tomorrow after school in light of the rain it would be fun to play some futsal!
  2. Yesterday I sent an email to all players looking for volunteers to go to the intermediate school Friday during their lunches to set up a table and recruit 8th graders. As of yet, I have not had any volunteers. We need and love leaders who love to work for the team! Please email me with interest.

Scholar Athlete Awards

I want to congratulate the following for earning a Scholar Athlete Award for the Fall 2024 season. To qualify, the student had to have finished the year on the Varsity or JV team while earning a 4.0 GPA or higher. Each scholar athlete will receive a medal for their efforts and of course all of our respect. Great job boys!
