Tuesday Training Recap

We had some more fun on our makeshift field. Here are some things we liked and some coach tips!

What we liked:

1. Some dangerous passes across the goal mouth. These will create lots of trouble for our adversaries. Justin was routinely in the right place crashing the goal

2. Quick outlet from Levi led to a goal. Soccer is a game of context. Sometimes we play out the back, sometimes we don’t. Every situation demands a different judgement.

3. Attendance – we had 30 guys there. We absolutely love that. One of our core principles is that everyone matters and we will involve everyone. Be ready!

Coach Tips to Work On:

1. Being a team requires going outside your comfort box and befriending everyone. STRONGER TOGETHER. We cannot be groups of 3’s and 4’s. We need to be ONE group of 40. If you have a grudge, let it go. Be positive and rule 1 is never talk bad about a teammate or the program 🙂 You guys are all wonderful. Be wonderful to each other.

2. Less individual = more team. Be quick to involve your teammates. The ball moves a lot faster than any person – even Justin or Gigi! Send that ball to feet or space and let’s move it quicker than our opponent can adjust. Less dribble, more pass.

Check out some pics!

PIAA Roster up to 20! One more day to get them in for bonus VL points!

Here is the updated list.

Players who have come out and showed interest we want to see get physicals:

Nate, Adam, Eduardo, Brayan, Mike L, Jayden, Yahriel, Braden, Harnit, Levi Walsh, Kyle Walsh, Lucas Ag, Tyam, Gigi, Andrew Bleice, Justin H, Jose, Jeremiah, Noah Q, and Angel

This would get us to 39 which I love. I know some of these are in the works and/or people have been away. Please reach out to these guys on the list. I will be doing the same. I want as many as want to have the experience committing to and experiencing the fun and memories of a high school sports team. If we get to 35, each member of team gets a prize. Let’s go!!!!!

Wonderful to work with WYSA!

Over the last two weeks, myself and my coaches have had the opportunity to evaluate and work with the young talent in the community along with the wonderful coaches and parents. You made things very easy and we love the enthusiasm for the sport. We hope to see all of them representing the blue and gold in the years to come! Good luck to all the boys for the coming season.

Training Recap – Fun in the Sun

We had a blast on Thursday playing a round robin format. Some of our “most wanted” guys showed up which made my day as well as a debut for Jeff Sunderlin in goal. Levi and Jeff were on their games and I think we have to crown Pura Vida with the win although the matches were all pretty even. Some highlights:

1. Kaarsen had a spectacular header off a great cross by Danny

2. Tyam was shooting rockets

3. Dillard was distributing the ball quickly and feeding through ball after through ball to Coach and others and I got fit chasing after them all!

4. Steve, Alex, Angel, Nate, Adam all looking good! Great to see you guys! I really mean it when I say everyone matters. We still have some “most wanted posters” up for some other guys we haven’t seen in awhile.

5. Less whinging! Yay! Life brings plenty of serious problems without soccer ever being one of them!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Bring a pal Thursday!

Excited to train tomorrow. Bring a friend tomorrow – now, not just any friend, I have a few in mind. Make sure one of the names below shows up tomorrow and you get a free Gatorade for you AND for them. I’ll even put them on ice.
